Peter Korcsinzky - Head Coach
Coach Peter Korcsinszky's love for ice hockey originates from his father, who is a true fanatic of the sport. Growing up watching his father, who has been an active member of the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation and the President of the local hockey club over the past 20 years, left no chance for him to avoid his fate: becoming a hockey player. He got his first pair of skates at the age of 5 and since then has never abandoned them. He played youth travel hockey up to his teenage years and was also selected for the Under-16 National Team of Hungary. Shortly after, due to a knee injury, he decided to focus on his education, ultimately earning a law degree. Throughout he stayed close to the sport, as he started coaching his hometown’s Squirt and PeeWee teams and was running the International Ice Hockey Federation's “Learn to Play” program. In 2004, after getting married and joining his wife here in San Francisco, he instantly got connected with the local hockey world. Since then he has been serving as a coach and skating instructor for the Sabercats In-House/Squirt and PeeWee program at YBISC. It’s been over a decade since he started teaching youngsters the fundamentals of ice hockey, incorporating solid work ethics and uncompromised team spirit. He also plays for the San Francisco Adult Hockey League, and has since never forgotten the ultimate reason he first stepped on the ice: Hockey is FUN!
Jason Kapuscinski - Head Coach
Coach Jason grew up in Calgary, Alberta and began skating almost as soon as he could walk. By age 4 he was out on the ice with a stick chasing the puck around. As a Native Canadian Coach Jason had hockey running through his blood and was surrounded by Flames chants everywhere he looked. At age 17 Coach Jason was playing hockey at the ‘AAA’ level and his team was one win away from going to the National Championship. After graduating high school Jason decided to give back to the game he loved so much by coaching youth hockey. Coach Jason coached two spring ‘AAA’ Pee Wee teams and has also designed and facilitated 3 years of hockey school camps. In 2007 Jason moved to San Francisco and first started coaching the Sabercats Squirt A team in 2008 and the Pee Wee team in 2009. This year is his third year with the organization and looks forward to several more to come.
