UPDATED 2/28

In addition to the Spring registration we announced last week, we have three important updates regarding the upcoming Spring season and Folsom street project construction we wanted to highlight:

  1. Riverside Memorial Day Showdown Tournament at LA Kings Icetown

We have registered all age groups 10U and up for Riverside’s Memorial Day Showdown Tournament.  This is optional for those that sign up for the Spring Season and will be at an additional cost for those who choose to attend.  We will send out an interest questionnaire to those of you that sign up for the Spring.  We hope to secure accommodations at the same hotel or hotels in the same vicinity so that the Sabercats can stay together and cheer each other on.

  1. Spring Off-Ice: Stick Skills and Athletic Training, Hybrid Program

We are pleased to share that a corporate sponsor, Jolt, has generously offered an off-ice training program to members of our youth hockey team at a discounted rate. This program is designed to help players further develop their athletic skills and overall fitness.

Please note that participation in this off-ice training program is completely optional-there is no obligation for any player or family to take part.  This program is offered strictly to SFYHA hockey players.  SFYHA has no affiliation with Jolt and is not financially benefiting from anyone who signs up for this program.

If you are interested in learning more about the program, including details about the schedule, location, and how to register, here is the link:  https://www.joltathletics.com/sabercats-off-ice

We appreciate the support of Jolt as our sponsor and are excited to offer this opportunity to our players. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

3. Folsom Streetscape Project Update

Construction has now moved between Third and Fourth Streets and is directly impacting access to Yerba Buena Ice Skating & Bowling Center.

What to Expect around the Center

  • No parking and no loading zone on Folsom Street
  • Ongoing and periodic lane closures
  • Increased congestion approaching the rink
  • Delays at surrounding street lights
  • Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time when visiting the rink

Parking & Transportation Alternatives

  • To help minimize delays and parking challenges, we recommend:
  • Parking at Fifth & Mission Garage
  • Parking at Museum Parc Garage (see below for available discount information.)
  • Considering public transportation whenever possible

Current Season Updates

For this current regular season, we will continue to have ice after the end of the regular season on Sunday, March 8 through Sunday, March 26. The schedule will be somewhat modified and playoff-bound teams will have preference, however we expect to have ice available for all teams. Once the playoff picture is set, we will provide an update for the March practice schedule. NOTE: NorCal playoffs will be the weekend of March 14 & 15 and the State Championship will be the weekend of March 28 & 29 (in San Jose).

2026/2027 Season Tryouts
Tryouts for the 2026/2027 season, Friday June 12 through Sunday, June 14, will follow immediately after the last day of spring PDP. There will be a separate registration for tryouts, which we will send at a later time.
